In our travels to central China, we happened upon some little known minority peoples there, the Miao and the Tujia, who do exquisite handwork in embroidery, weaving, shibori (tie-dye) and batik.

Using a combination of our own designs, traditional Miao patterns and the expert sewing skills of the local women, we have put together five collections whose popularity spans cultures and generations.

This little known minority ethnic group has its own language and customs dating back thousands of years, yet their exquisite embroidery skills are relatively unknown outside their own people. We visit China several times a year to work with them so we can bring this unique line of handmade products to the western world.

The Miao women work in their homes as a cottage industry and have already been fairly compensated for their work. China Ethnic Crafts is located in Waycross, Georgia.
